Monkey Parliament (aka Question Time)

Monkey Parliament is an offset lithograph from Banksy's landmark 2009 exhibition at Bristol Museum. This authorised, unnumbered print captures the artist's iconic composition featuring illuminated chandaliers and a monkey holding an upturned banana. This image represents a pivotal moment in contemporary art & political history.

A decade later, the original canvas was reworked and retitled "Devolved Parliament" for the museum's anniversary, with the lights extinguished and banana inverted to convey a contrasting political statement. The original 're-worked' painting was sold at Sotherby's for £9.8m in 2019.
