Passion for art

Molasses House began, quite simply, with a passion I couldn't put down. Over 35 years in international corporate roles, I built a personal collection — buying pieces I loved, occasionally selling one to fund the next, and along the way meeting gallerists from London to Hong Kong, New York to Paris who shaped how I thought about art, collecting, and what a gallery could be.

Bold & Brave

In July 2021, Molasses House opened in Harpenden, UK. No legacy to protect, no clients to lose — just a belief that buying art shouldn't feel intimidating.

Five years on, we represent over a dozen artists who sit alongside household names and serve everyone from first-time buyers to serious collectors. That belief hasn't changed.

Here's what sets us apart: we're not built to make you feel like you should already know something. Walk in, look around, ask the obvious question. No script, no pressure, no need to buy to justify being there. Just a good relaxed conversation.

Five years on

2026 marks five years of Molasses House — and we're stepping forward boldly.

We're relocating to a new studio in Ladbroke Grove, London. A public gallery space remains in our plans — we'll share details soon — because we believe nothing beats walking in spontaneously and asking the questions that matter.

Inviting not intimating

In the meantime, our Ladbroke Grove studio is where the work happens: sourcing fabulous artwork, photography, private views, one-to-one time with clients and collectors. An appointment, is not for exclusivity, but for attention. When you visit, it's your time, your pace, your space.

Never bought art before? A private view is simply a quieter conversation than a busy gallery floor — better light, more space, no queue. That's all.

You are in good hands

Call or email me — Barrie — for an informal chat. Come with a piece in mind, or come with nothing at all. If you buy something, great. If you don't, that's fine too — most people end up coming back anyway, once they've seen how we do things.
