Skevi is a British artist known for her colourful abstract and seascape resin paintings.
She commenced her artistic journey when she painted with acrylic to relax and wind-down in the evenings. She transitioned to using resin after admiring its high gloss finish and realising its full potential when the resin is tinted.
By understanding how different pigments behave in the resin, she can create her unique works of art. This is made possible by the transparency and fluidity of resin, building up layers to create unique and exciting effects and textures that make people want to touch and feel the work. She spends a lot of time experimenting with resin to create new effects and to ensure her work is constantly evolving.
Her first collection ‘Colour’ was created for the simple purpose of adding that pop of colour that was missing in people’s homes. Abstract creations which have grown over time to become stunning statement pieces of art. Adding an element of 3D to her latest works by partial layering of the resin to create even more interesting effects and textures as well and using metallics to give them a luxurious edge.
During her 13 years in Asia, her love for the ocean grew, this is when she started her ‘Seascape’ collection. By pouring the resin and tilting her panels in different directions, together with the use of a heat gun or blowtorch Skevi was able to create powerful ocean scenes, alive with movement and depth. Her seascapes have been her best-selling collection to-date with several commissions requested in specific sizes and colours.
As a result of experimentation, her other most popular collection ‘Life’ was born. This collection has more of an emotional sentiment to it. Where each piece tells its own story based on emotions and feelings felt during their creation, current events or simply the feeling the artwork portrays as Skevi looks at it. Each piece is unique and the eye of the beholder is encouraged to interpret what they see and feel when looking at it as this can be different for everyone, which also inspires curiosity. The collection has evolved to include multiple transparent layers, waves or metallic embellishments creating a totally unique look and feel to the collection.
Skevi also dedicates time to create her unique functional art homewares. Like her wall art, these are a hot topic of conversation.
Skevi is always keen to support good causes and in the past her work has raised money for a variety of charities such as Kick Sarcoma, Kampuchea Balopp, a non-profit organisation in Cambodia, the ATLAS Foundation, NHS Charities Together, The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and the DEC Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine.
She has successfully exhibited several times in Singapore and the UK. Her artwork decorates homes, offices and hotels in the USA, Canada, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Australia, France, Latvia and the UK where she currently resides.
